The twenty seven nakshatras of Vedic Astrology form the foundation of the Hindu Zodiac. Like the Grahas, these Nakshatras are given the status of deities, worthy of worship through the chanting of mantras.

The mantras presented here are puranic mantras for the twenty seven Nakshatras. Beautifully arranged against the background of an Indian Tambura, they are chanted by a female monk, Sadavi Mataji. Formerly an Indian classical singer, Sadavi Mataji lives in seclusion next to the banks of the Ganges River in Rishikesh, India.
